Ten Second Review
AUDI A8 lease review - The A8 has long been a model of subtlety and discretion in a market that is flooded with brash showy vehicles. The newest version of this saloon enters a market that has a lot of competition and choice is not sparse. However that's not to say that the latest Audi A8 doesn't have pull in this market. With much improved efficiency, a more powerful engine output and an interior which is much neater than previous models the new A8 generally provides better value across the board.
When you get up to the A8 in Audi's range of saloon cars you know you're getting into big power territory. Most of the engines in this range are either a whopping V8 or the lesser (but still beastly) V6. It doesn't matter if you're a petrol or diesel user both choices are available for you, and each variation is strong enough to provide a satisfying and dare we say exciting driving experience. However if you are looking for speed with a little more fuel economy (or less environmental damage) there is also a hyrid version which helps achieve performance whilst using a little less from the tank.
No matter what variation of the Audi A8 you opt for they all come fitted with an eight speed automatic gearbox to allow you to climb up speeds easily without sticky shifts. This really helps with 0-60 performance in real conditions for drivers who need fast acceleration such as overtaking or merging onto a motorway.
Unlike in some other Audi ranges when you sit in an A8 you're treated to air suspension as standard. This setup is also adjustable so that you can tailor your drive to the conditions you know are ahead. In the less aggressive suspension modes the drive is extremely comfortable but doesn't suit fast driving and quick corners, whereas if you go for something a little more sporty the car is more dynamic but slightly rougher around the edges. Steering also adjusts with the weighting adjusting with speed so that you always have a consistent response to movement.
One downside is that the noise levels coming from the A8 can be more noticeable than most especially when driving over rougher roads. However this is kept down somewhat by the double glazed glass which is present.
A stop start engine also helps to conserve fuel which is a must with big engines like these if you're not using the hybrid version. So it just goes to show that although Audi are focused on creating one of the fastest executive cars on the market they're not completely disregarding fuel conservation.
