Land Rover Discovery Sport Lease Review - As always, Land Rover have produced an excellent 4x4 vehicle that works well on and off the road and comes with near unrivalled levels of kit. All four available versions run with the 2.2 litre diesel, which puts out 187bhp and rarely feels underpowered. The six speed manual gearbox feels great, while the 9 speed auto found on the higher models still manages to impress. Unfortunately the engine is a slight let-down for the tax-aware, pumping out 162g/km of CO2 as well as having something of a rough engine note.

The ride can be a little unsettled at low speed, but any downsides will cease once you get out on the open road with excellent suspension that will deal well with potholes and cracks. The body does lean in the corners, but the concise steering will breed enough confidence for you to go fast, while the Terrain Response system means this works better off-road than any urban competitor, as a Land Rover should. Inside you will find extremely comfortable seats and enough room for seven adults if need be, despite the car being shorter than most of the range.

Head and legroom isn’t an issue, while the additional storage space means you can transport a sofa suite in the back if needed. Up front it’s the same story, with plenty of electronic adjustment tools for the driver that are almost unnecessary due to the high driving position and great road views. Equipment comes in the form of an eight inch colour display, alongside climate and cruise control, heated seats and parking sensors. Guaranteed at least part leather upholstery as standard, the high-spec version have full leather trim alongside sat-nav, automatic light and wipers and a beautiful panoramic sunroof that makes the interior feel even more spacious.

Finally, safety tech is at an all-time high with automatic brakes, collision warning systems and more than enough airbags assuring this car achieved the five star NCAP rating. In short, this is one of the great Land Rover models of today, and will put most of its competitors to shame be that on the drive, the road or the dirt track.
