Ever wondered what’s the best selling car in the UK at any one time? Thanks to publicly published data from the SMMT we can keep track of what new cars have had the most registrations (and thus sales/leases) each and every month.
Looking at the 2014 car registration data up to the end of November there’s a pretty clear divide which has emerged between the top 10 sellers. Therefore we can be pretty confident that these are going to be the best sellers of 2014 and so we can announce them in mid-December.
Topping the list are a lot of small family cars which goes to show that the consumer market is a lot more buoyant again. This again can be backed up by the fact that new car registrations were increasing month on month for sustained periods during 2014.
As you can see from the top 10 sellers 2014 has been a big success for hatchback cars. 9 out of the 10 most popular cars for sale were hatchback models, which is a trend which we’d expect to see continuing into 2015.
Are you looking to get a new car in the new year? If so let us know in the comments section and we’ll see if there are any emerging trends which could be predicted.
