Jeep Renegade Lease Review - The Jeep Renegade compact crossover is tackling the toughest auto sector in the world. It is a multi-national vehicle – designed and developed in the USA, built in Italy, and sold across Europe. This entry-level Jeep is based on Fiat’s 500L (which also owns Jeep).

Climb inside the Renegade - The overhead clearance is huge. Furnishings aren’t plush but they aren’t cheap, either. The dash layout is fairly logical and tidy and the cabin has plenty of storage space. Tall adults won’t fare well in the back seats. Headroom is great, but legroom is poor. The boot is spacious and includes a false floor with extra space underneath (sans spare wheel).

UK Renegade models are available in two petrol engines and two diesels. The 120bhp 1.6-litre Multijet diesel is expected to be most popular with decent fuel consumption (50.4mpg) and also-decent CO2 emissions (120g/km). Testers view the Trailhawk (170bhp engine, 9-speed auto gearbox) as the best model. It’s the most expensive Renegade model and slightly less fuel and emissions efficient, but it is considered a go-anywhere-anytime vehicle.

The Renegade is a generally quiet, somewhat uncomfortable ride. For handling, it’s described as a bit lumbering on the road and capable off-road. Give it a good on- and off-road test drive, then decide if Renegade’s quirky looks and overall capabilities make it the crossover SUV for you.
