Ten Second Review
Kia Soul EV Lease Review - The Soul EV is Kia’s first-ever production electric vehicle. The EV is also the first battery-powered vehicle to offer a seven-year warranty.
Kia basically gutted most of the contents under the Soul’s bonnet. Front and rear styling were revamped, and the structure was reworked to strengthen key areas across the floorplan for increased body shell rigidity. To finish, the EV has been fitted with plenty of standard kit.
The Soul EV is easy to drive and position in busy town traffic. It is peppy, quiet, and comfortable. It won’t wow the driver with a power performance but it is precise in steering, secure in cornering, and has a wonderfully smooth power delivery. While the EV is sufficiently roomy and comfy for driver and passengers, boot capacity is on the small side at 281 litres.
With electric cars, owners need to be mindful of the functions that will drain the charge such as cold weather, running the heater or windshield wipers, or having the headlights on full time during the winter months.
The Soul EV does take time to achieve a full charge (13 hours’ recharge on a domestic plug) and recharging stations aren’t exactly abundant around town. And despite the virtues of an electric car, the EV is pricey which will certainly be off-putting to many otherwise interested drivers.
